Our story

Our journey started in Fulham, London, with a simple idea and a bold ambition: to brew lager without compromise. From our small but determined brewery, we set out to craft the beers we truly wanted to drink — balanced, flavourful, and brewed with integrity. Our very first creation was a modern take on the classic pilsner. It was good, but we knew it could be exceptional. That pursuit of better has guided us ever since.

As our brewery grew, so did our ambitions. We left London behind and moved to Staffordshire — not just for space, but for something far more important: pure, naturally filtered water. By brewing at the source, we could create exceptional beer without compromise or additives. The move also allowed us to deepen our commitment to sustainability, establishing a brewery on a working farm surrounded by nature.

In 2014, we took another meaningful step forward by creating our natural reed bed filtration system. This innovative, chemical-free process cleans every drop of our wastewater through a natural anaerobic digestion system, before returning it safely to the local environment. A closed loop, powered by nature – proof that brewing and sustainability can thrive together.

Two decades after our first brew, our commitment to quality and sustainability was recognised when we were named SIBA Green Business of the Year. From our environmentally conscious brewing practices to our reed bed filtration system and the introduction of five thriving bee colonies to support biodiversity – this award celebrated the principles that have shaped Freedom from the start.
